Şebnem Bahadır-Berzig has been a University Professor of Translation Studies at the Department of Translation Studies since December 2020. She teaches, conducts research and publishes on multilingual practices and actors in migration societies, as well as on the social and political contexts that influence the work of interpreters. Other focus areas include the impact of digitalisation on the profession, participatory and performative research approaches, and innovative methods in translation pedagogy and didactics. Since 1 October 2026, Bahadır-Berzig has been Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Equal Opportunities.
